Cinemagraphs

My initial plan for the cinemagraphs was basically the same thing that my finals turned out to be. I used these two ideas pretty much because they were the first to pop into my head. Making this project was a bit difficult because I had to realign a lot of the pictures so that they all fit together and weren't moving around the screen. Also, it was bit difficult to erase all the parts I didn't need. It turned out alright in the end. I tried my hardest to minimize the movement of the background and isolate it to the main subject so that it didn't look odd. I preformed it to the best of my ability and I think it went well.

Cinemagraph Ideas

I am going to photograph a picture of me and my eyes are going to move around. The cinemagraph will probably be photographed right outside. I won't really need any props for it. Just me. I'm probably only going to need about 30 photos or less. I'm not really too sure. When all the photos are stacked, I'm going to need to erase everything except the eyes so that they are the only things moving.

I am going to photograph a water fountain and make the water coming out the only thing moving. The photograph is probably going to be taken right outside the classroom. I don't think I'm going to need any props for this one either. I'm proably going to need about 20 photos and then I can just loop it. When the photos are all stacked up I'm probably going to need to delete everything but the water so that it's the only thing moving.

2D Icon Buttons Tutorial

Making these buttons was a little easier than making the logos and required less steps. Although it was more simple, it was still very tedious and took quite a bit of time.

3D Logos Tutorial

Making these logos had a good turn out but was very tedious. It took me a while to finish the project and even then there was still more that I wanted to do with them.

Illustrator Tutorial One

I think that this piece turned out pretty well. I think this piece is successful because the flowers look okay, and nothing really went wrong. What worked about the project was that I followed the tutorial and got everything working fine. Nothing didn't work. From this piece, I learned how to use Adobe Illustrator from this tutorial. I learned how to use the shape tools and gradients.

Book Cover Design

I chose the character and the story because I wasn't really doing well with the Photoshop tool so I just chose something simple. The setting of the book is on a farm, hence the title "Animal Farm." The design I made reflects the setting because I added animals, a barn, and a fence to make it seem like a farm. The font I chose was Vladimir Script. I chose it because the book isn't really a playful book. It is pretty serious so I though a script font would work well.

Gift Card Design Challenge

My gift cards portray a strong theme because they are all based on holidays. I used gradients and some other layer styles and I think that they greatly enhanced te gift card by making the colors look a lot better and allowing me a wider color range. I incorporated custom brushes in all of the gift cards that I made. Every picture in my gift cards was a brush. I chose them based on whatever holiday I was portraying. For my logo and text placement, I tried to have the main text (such as "Merry Christmas") pop out and be noticable. As for my logo and the money the card was worth, I tried to have it blend with the card and not pop out. Basically, I attempted to make it visible only if one was looking for it.

Disney Mashup Magazine Cover

I think that the final piece turned out pretty well. I feel this piece is successful because I included everything required and it turned out looking pretty good. What worked about this project was making it all fit together. What didn't work was the color palette I chose. It didn't give me many options. The most difficult part about this project was definitely aligning all of the text and making it look good.

Disney Mash Up

I think that the final piece turned out alright. I feel that the piece is mildly successful because everything worked out fine but it doesn't look the greatest. What worked about this project was cropping Dumbo's face and getting it to work on Mickey's head. What didn't work was that it just doesn't look very real. Well, as real as two fake characters can get. The most difficult part of completing this piece was getting Dumbo's face onto Mickey's and making it not look terrible.

Photoshop Text 202

I think that the final piece turned out pretty good. I feel the the piece is successful because I used the text wrapping effect pretty well. What worked about this project was that I got it done and it looks alright. What didn't work was that I had some trouble getting started. If I were to do this project again I would have chosen another face with more interesting features to outline. The most difficult part about this piece was working the text. From this piece, I learned how to wrap text and make it follow a line.

Photoshop Text 101

I think the final piece turned out fine. I think that the piece is pretty good. Almost everything worked about this project except making the "fire" text bigger. If I were to do this project over again, I'd probably experiment with other font effects. The hardest part about this project was probably making the "fire" text. From this piece, I learned how to use Photoshop to change font.

The Barbie Project

For this piece I took Bruce Willis and made him fatter, pointed his head, made his mouth into some kind of hilbilly mess, and turned him pink. All of this contributed to making him look like Pinhead Larry, one of Partick Star's (from Spongebob) aliases. I think that the final piece turned out really well. I think that this piece is successful because I took almost all of the aspects of Pinhead Larry and applied them to Bruce. What worked about this project was the fact that I made him turn out like I wanted. Nothing didn't work. If I were to do this project over again, I'd probably choose a different person and character. The most difficult part about completing this was pretty much the whole thing. It took me a while to finish it up. From this piece, I didn't really learn anything new. I mostly applied the skills I had learned in previous tutorials to complete it.

Retouching: Day 2 - Project 2

I think the final piece turned out alright. I don't think the piece is really successful since I kind of rushed it. What worked was removing most of the blemishes. What didn't work was lighting up her face. It didn't exactly turn out like I wanted it to. If I were to do this again, I work harder on the face and make it look even better. There weren't really any difficult parts of making this piece because I just used what I had already learned.

Retouching Day 2

I think that the final piece turned out alright. I feel that this piece is mildly successful because I tried my best and I'm satisfied but it still doesn't look too great. What worked about this project was erasing all of her blemishes. That turned out alright. What didn't work was making her look alright after that. I tried using gaussian blur and recoloring her eyes but it didn't turn out like I wanted it to. If I were to do this project over again, I would probably fix the blur on her face because it doesn't really look that great. The most difficult part about the project was probably taking out her blemishes with the patch tool. That tool is a little difficult to use. From this piece I didn't learn anything new but I used some things that I learned in the previous tutorial.

Stop Motion Animation Project

I think that the final piece turned out fine. I feel that this piece is pretty successful because we worked hard and I think it turned out okay. What worked about this project was that we got all the pictures together and it worked nicely. What didn't work was the fact that the music wouldn't play. If I were to do this project over again I would probably make the plot different and use a different character. The most diffucult part of the project was taking all of the pictures. That took us about three days. From this piece, I learned how to make a stop motion animation.

Blemish Girl Tutorial

I think that the final piece turned out pretty nicely. I think that this piece is sucessful because I applied all of the techniques and it doesn't look horrible so it's fine with me. What worked about my project was the eyes and what didn't work was the fact that I messed up on the face like five times and had to restart. If I were to do this project again I probably would try to make her look like a completely different person. The most difficult part about this piece was the face and making it look okay. From this piece, I learned how to retouch people using many tools including gaussian blur.

Walk Cycle

I think that the final piece turned out okay. I think that this piece is kind of successful because it turned out okay. The only problem is he's galloping like a horse. What worked about the project was making the GIF. What didn't work was his short legs because now he doesn't look like he's walking. If I were to do this over again, I'd make his legs longer. The most difficult part was putting it all together but in the end it worked out. From this piece I learned how to make a GIF in Photoshop.

Newimal Project

For my Newimal project, I mixed a snake and a turtle together. I think that the final piece turned out alright. I feel that this piece is pretty successful for the most part. Although, I wish the snake head didnt pop as much as it does. What worked about this project was using the clone stamp tool to copy the snake's textures and overlap the turtle with them. I thought that turned out really well. What didn't work was the fact that the snake head looks a bit clearer than everything else. If I were to do this project over again, I would consider making a new animal. It would actually be pretty cool if we mixed a human and an animal together, too. The most difficult part about this piece was making the snake head look like it blended in. I spent the most time working on that. From this piece, I didn't really learn anything new. I mostly just applied the skills I had learned throughout the week into making it.

Using Gradients Tutorial

This project was fairly simple but it had quite a few steps. My thoughts on the final piece are that it turned out pretty well. I think that this piece is pretty succesful. What worked about this project was that I learned how to make some pretty cool things with gradients and how to use the marquee tool. What didn't work was that I had a bit of trouble with the speaker colors but I think it turned out alright. If I were to redo this project, I would probably change the color of some of the objects and attempt to make new ones altogether. The most difficult part about this project was making the colors look alright. From this piece, I learned how to properly use some of the gradient tools and also how to make different shapes with the marquee tools.

Banana Shine Tutorial

I think that this final piece turned out well. I feel that this piece is pretty successful because it was nice and easy and I had no problems with it. What did work about the project was that the gradient effect was really easy to use and it turned out looking fine. Nothing didn't work. If I were to do this project over again, I would definitely choose something different to make the reflection of. The most difficult part about this piece was probably getting the reflection to look all right but that turned out to be pretty simple. From this piece, I learned how to use the gradient tool to make a cool looking reflection effect, how to use the background colors, and how to keep your mouse locked.
