Gift Card Design Challenge

My gift cards portray a strong theme because they are all based on holidays. I used gradients and some other layer styles and I think that they greatly enhanced te gift card by making the colors look a lot better and allowing me a wider color range. I incorporated custom brushes in all of the gift cards that I made. Every picture in my gift cards was a brush. I chose them based on whatever holiday I was portraying. For my logo and text placement, I tried to have the main text (such as "Merry Christmas") pop out and be noticable. As for my logo and the money the card was worth, I tried to have it blend with the card and not pop out. Basically, I attempted to make it visible only if one was looking for it.

Disney Mashup Magazine Cover

I think that the final piece turned out pretty well. I feel this piece is successful because I included everything required and it turned out looking pretty good. What worked about this project was making it all fit together. What didn't work was the color palette I chose. It didn't give me many options. The most difficult part about this project was definitely aligning all of the text and making it look good.

Disney Mash Up

I think that the final piece turned out alright. I feel that the piece is mildly successful because everything worked out fine but it doesn't look the greatest. What worked about this project was cropping Dumbo's face and getting it to work on Mickey's head. What didn't work was that it just doesn't look very real. Well, as real as two fake characters can get. The most difficult part of completing this piece was getting Dumbo's face onto Mickey's and making it not look terrible.

Photoshop Text 202

I think that the final piece turned out pretty good. I feel the the piece is successful because I used the text wrapping effect pretty well. What worked about this project was that I got it done and it looks alright. What didn't work was that I had some trouble getting started. If I were to do this project again I would have chosen another face with more interesting features to outline. The most difficult part about this piece was working the text. From this piece, I learned how to wrap text and make it follow a line.

Photoshop Text 101

I think the final piece turned out fine. I think that the piece is pretty good. Almost everything worked about this project except making the "fire" text bigger. If I were to do this project over again, I'd probably experiment with other font effects. The hardest part about this project was probably making the "fire" text. From this piece, I learned how to use Photoshop to change font.

The Barbie Project

For this piece I took Bruce Willis and made him fatter, pointed his head, made his mouth into some kind of hilbilly mess, and turned him pink. All of this contributed to making him look like Pinhead Larry, one of Partick Star's (from Spongebob) aliases. I think that the final piece turned out really well. I think that this piece is successful because I took almost all of the aspects of Pinhead Larry and applied them to Bruce. What worked about this project was the fact that I made him turn out like I wanted. Nothing didn't work. If I were to do this project over again, I'd probably choose a different person and character. The most difficult part about completing this was pretty much the whole thing. It took me a while to finish it up. From this piece, I didn't really learn anything new. I mostly applied the skills I had learned in previous tutorials to complete it.

Retouching: Day 2 - Project 2

I think the final piece turned out alright. I don't think the piece is really successful since I kind of rushed it. What worked was removing most of the blemishes. What didn't work was lighting up her face. It didn't exactly turn out like I wanted it to. If I were to do this again, I work harder on the face and make it look even better. There weren't really any difficult parts of making this piece because I just used what I had already learned.

Retouching Day 2

I think that the final piece turned out alright. I feel that this piece is mildly successful because I tried my best and I'm satisfied but it still doesn't look too great. What worked about this project was erasing all of her blemishes. That turned out alright. What didn't work was making her look alright after that. I tried using gaussian blur and recoloring her eyes but it didn't turn out like I wanted it to. If I were to do this project over again, I would probably fix the blur on her face because it doesn't really look that great. The most difficult part about the project was probably taking out her blemishes with the patch tool. That tool is a little difficult to use. From this piece I didn't learn anything new but I used some things that I learned in the previous tutorial.
